| I hope everyone in ThamesMogLand and beyond had a very happy Christmas. The year 2000 is shaping up to be a very busy one for Thames Valley Centre. Our Centre was originally formed at the Bird In Hand back in 1970, when we still had pounds, shillings and pence and no one had even heard of the Euro! Hence 2000 is our thirtieth anniversary year and we hope to celebrate this fact big time - watch this space! There was a very good turn out at the Bird in Hand in November, we seemed to nearly fill half the bars these days - long may it continue! During the evening we planned our trip to the London to Brighton Veteran car run, one of the highlights of our year. Fifteen cars turned out to meet up for the London to Brighton, at Newlands Corner. It was a very sunny day and it was great to see a long row of Morgans in the car park. Gerry Burkitt had his digital camera on hand and spent the day recording the event. Next month we hope to have a full report of the event, with pictures, in our newsletter. The third Thursday evening noggin was held at the Who'd Thou't it! This pub has a picture of an astronaut walking on the Moon, only to find a bottle of Morland beer already there before him. In the dark though this sign is difficult to see! An elite few only made it to the noggin: Pat and Alec Sanders, Chris Rowe and myself. A pleasant evening was had by all. I had to miss the Sunday noggin as I was in Amsterdam. I managed to do a spot of window-shopping while I was there; the place isn't really my cup of tea! At the noggin Mary and James McLaren made a welcome return joining Chris Rowe and Frank Mugford. Joe Philips and Liz also made a surprise visit! I hope you all had a good time. During November we recruited John Taylor to the Centre. I first met John at the launch of the new four seater at Allon Whites. At the time John was in the process of buying a rather nice Royal Ivory 4/4 - a very popular colour I understand. I hope you can make it to one of our noggins soon John. In the latest edition of the Thames Valley Centre Newsletter (TVCN) we have a report back from last year's total eclipse of the sun in Devon and Cornwall. Chris Rowe draws our attention to the highlights of his recent US tour and Ray Styles continues his 4/4 rebuild with a bit of wax oiling! Subscription details are available from myself (Centre Secretary) - credit card facilities are available for overseas readers. Please note that the third Thursday evening noggins will now be fixed at the Phoenix at Hartley Witney. The pub is on the A30 next to a petrol station on your left if travelling west. The Phoenix is a traditional meeting place for car clubs. I believe it is only right that Morgans should be represented - please come along. The first Thursday evening noggin at the Bird In Hand will continue as normal. On the 30th January we shall meet at the car park for Silent Pool near Shere in Surrey at 10:30 am. We shall then go for a four mile walk to waken ourselves up for the new year! As part of our thirtieth anniversary celebrations, I pleased to be able to announce that Mike Aldrich will be organising a celebratory dinner in June. Please contact Mike for details. It should be a very enjoyable evening.
Finally may I wish everyone a very happy prosperous year 2000 - the gateway to the new millennium!
