I am very sad to have to report the tragic news that Bert Oslar’s wife Shirley has passed away after a brief illness. Seven Morgans paid their last respects to Shirley at her funeral including Shirley’s Royal Ivory Plus four the car she loved so much!

Wonderfully Bert and Shirley had over fifty years of knowing each other and being together. They were blessed with five loving children and grand children.  Shirley had been a devoted wife and best friend to Bert over those years and a loving mother to her family. Shirley was also a good friend to many people in the Centre. Shirley would always welcome new members. Many people have said to me that Shirley had been the first person they had spoken to in the Centre and commented how at home that she had made them feel. Bert has some lovely memories of his time with Shirley that nothing can take away.

I remember this time last year Bert, Shirley and I went on down to Brighton to follow the Veteran cars on their run to Madeira Drive and then to pick up my Mother to go to a little known seaside café that I often frequent. We sat outside (I had my dogs Bobby and Sally with us also) and enjoyed a golden sunset and beautiful sea air after what had been a gorgeous day.  My memory of this day out is one that I will keep forever.

Bert would like to thank all his friends in the Centre and surrounding members of the club for all their help and support at this very sad time. Please make any donations that you would like to make in Shirley’s memory to Sue Ryder homes.

On behalf of the Centre Bert, please accept our sincere condolences. Our thoughts will be with you and your family. Please remember that we are an extended family and if you need our help we will be there.
