This month on behalf of the Centre I would like to give many thanks to a number of people and organisations:

Firstly I would like to thank David Smith and Sandra Stuart for the tremendous success of the Thames Valley gymkhana held at the National Society for Epilepsy. All proceeds went to the Epilepsy Centre; we had thirty odd Morgans in attendance which was brilliant. It was particular nice to see Corrine Rowe and her daughter compete in Chris’ Morgan – I’m sure Chris was watching over the proceedings. I would also like to thank SGT for their fantastic trophy that they donated to the event. James and Mary McLaren won the trophy. Congratulations to you both – what would you do without Mary James? We shall be running the event on 13th July next year when the SGT trophy will once again be competed for. The Epilepsy Centre thoroughly enjoyed the event; it was a wonderful day out for all the family.

Secondly I would like to thank Pam and Mike Aldrich for a very enjoyable Centre dinner at the Riviera Hotel in Maidenhead. SGT provided a small Morgan related gift and an invitation to their sports car open day to all Centre members at the dinner. I would like to thank Jane Williams and her team at SGT for their support. I hope Jane you will be able to join us next year at our Centre dinner.

Thirdly I would like to thank Estelle and Ian Sollen for their pleasurable scenic run and their kind invitation to their home for coffee and danish.  The run was very cleverly devised. It was possible for almost all the navigating morgans to travel in all directions and to still arrive at their destination. We had at least ten Morgans or so taking part. Those that didn’t make it lost out on a real treat – please don’t miss out next time!

Fourthly I would like to thank Richard Thorne Classic Cars for their kind invitation to their Aero 8 Le Mans evening. It was an honour to meet the drivers and the car in the flesh making us look forward even more to our trip to Le Mans next year to see the car back in action. We congratulated the team on their achievements at the event this year.

I hope I haven’t forgotten anybody – we have had a busy few months! This month we have two events on the same day – both are well worth a visit. Ian Sollen is providing dream rides at Brooklands in his Morgan with the proceeds going to children’s charities. Ian will provide a good ride along with cars like Lamborghini Diablos, Aston Martin DB7 VolanteV12s, various Ferrari, AC Cobras, Racing Daytona Cobras, 3Litre Bentleys etc, etc. The Morgan is best of course. All are welcome to go along to support the event. Please contact Ian for further information. Ian has provided a web site for additional information - please see below. I shall be at the Brighton Speed Trials – the greatest speed event in the world!  A difficult choice to make – it is also a shame when two good events clash!

Please note that the Hampden Arms noggin for this month only will not take place. The pub is closed while the staff takes a well-deserved holiday. We shall be back there on the third Sunday in October (20th) as normal – sorry for any inconvenience. The food at the Hampden Arms is really good so we shall all miss the September noggin there.
