I guess as we approach the winter months things will calm down a little.
However in my opinion we still have two of the best walks left to come
during November and December – I hope to see you there.
The
first Sunday in November is the occasion for the London to Brighton Veteran Car
run. Sexmog organise a great venue
for watching this event at Staplefield. I
hope to go along this year, I would highly recommend this day out if you can
make it.
I
am now taking bookings for the annual Centre Dinner at the Phoenix December
noggin. Please contact me as soon as possible if you would like to
come, as always places will be limited and allocated on a first come first
served basis. The menu is mainly
the same as last year except that you can now order fillet steak – I’m a
turkey man myself.
And finally this month’s
walk:
The Rainbow Middle Assendon
Sunday 23rd
November 2003
For
our penultimate walk of 2003 we shall be starting and ending our walk at the
Rainbow pub at Middle Assendon. The
pub is on the B480 two and a half miles Northwest of Henley.
From the Fairmile (A4130) join the B480 where it is signposted ‘The
Assendons’. The walk is covered
by OS Map Landranger series 175 Reading and Windsor (GR 738858).
Parking is possible in the pub car park or in the side road opposite.
There is also an extensive lay-by alongside nearby houses – a good
place to put the Morgans on display possibly!
The walk is four and a
half miles in length and circulates around Fawley Bottom.
The views on this walk are superb and unsurpassed on the Chilterns. Unfortunately to pay for this, there are some climbs to make,
I’m afraid. However after nearly
a year of monthly walks we should be ready for the challenge! If nothing else it will prepare us for the ultimate walk we
have planned for December!
We
shall meet at the Rainbow at 10:30 am and we shall be back in time for lunch at
the same pub. I hope to see you
there.
See you all soon.
