On
behalf of the Centre I would like to congratulate the Morgan team and their
outstanding achievement at the Le Mans twenty-four race this year. The
Centre was fairly evenly split between those going to Le Mans and folks going
to MOG 2004. Fortunately we had our Thames Valley Centre Newsletter roving
reporter Heidi Miller based at MOG 2004 and our Foreign Correspondent Helen
Thorne at Le Mans. Heidi and Helen kept in touch throughout the twenty-four
hours exchanging up to date text messages! Heidi and I spent the last exciting
hour of the race next to the loud speaker at MOG 2004 so that messages from
Helen could be relayed to the crowds at MOG 2004. As 1600 hours passed at Le
Mans and the Morgan crossed the finishing line the Morgan fans erupted in the
grandstand, it was then thanks to Heidi and Helen that within moments the
assembly cheered equally loudly at our end. An historic moment and one to
cherish!
I
would like to thank Heidi and Helen for working so hard through the night to
keep us all informed. A full write up of their exploits will be in an edition
of Thames Valley Centre News very soon. Also, I would like to thank the
organisers of MOG 2004 for a very enjoyable weekend!
Don’t
forget over the Bank holiday weekend we have our long camping weekend in the
Peak District. Please ring Ann and Brian Miller for details. Along with the
walk to the aircraft sites they have planned some scenic runs and places of
interest to visit. The camp site will fill very quickly so please make any
bookings as soon as you can, Ann and Brian can give you the camp site details.
It should be a real fun weekend. I am looking forward to it very much!
This month’s local walk is being organised
by Gerry Burkitt but is being held earlier in the month than usual due to our
trip to the Peak District..
Take care & see you all soon
