I would like to say a big thank you to Viv and Tony Hempel for running our scenic run for Cancer Charities last month. I would also like to thank everyone that took part. I felt sure that our long lost friends and love ones were there with us on the day. When I know how much money was raised I shall publish the total here and in our newsletter. I know from an early indication some of you have managed to gather quite a lot of sponsorship. Well done – thank you so much!

Don’t forget we shall be holding our Annual Centre Dinner on Saturday 16th October 2004 courtesy of Pam and Mike Aldrich. Tickets are available now. Mike Aldrich is our Centre Treasurer and you can find his contact details at the end of this report. If you require further details please give Pam or Mike a ring. It should a real fun evening.

This month along with our visit to Classic Le Mans we have Alan Moore’s Uxbridge Car show. Please contact Alan if you would like to attend. I’m sure Alan will be able to accommodate you!

A Walk at Bennett End

Sunday 11th July 2004

The starting point of this month’s walk is the car park of the Three Horseshoes, at Bennett End.  The pub is half a mile east of Stokenchurch. From the A40 join Muds Bank a lane leading to Radnage. The lane will bring you to Bennett End Road. The Inn is near the far end of this road which is more like a lane.

The walk is three and a half miles in length and takes in a magnificent unspoilt valley.

We shall meet at 10:30 am at the Three Horseshoes PH car park and we shall be back in time for lunch at this wonderful venue.  Those that would just like to meet us at the pub, we should be back about 1’oclock.  I hope to see you there.  Incidentally, all the pubs on our walks have been very good and well worth a visit in their own right.

A Walk from the Barley Mow PH

Sunday 1st August 2004

Gerry Burkitt will be taking us on a pleasant stroll along the Basingstoke Canal. We may make it to a local castle on his route. So for this walk we shall meet a little earlier to make sure we get there. Please meet at the Barley Mow car park at 10:00 am. We shall be back in time for our normal noggin at this venue. Don’t forget this will be our last training season before we venture forth to the Peak District. I hope to see you there.

Take care & see you all soon
