On the Friday night of our New Forest bank holiday weekend, the New Forest Centre has challenged us to an evening of beer and skittles. Whether the emphasis is on beer or skittles I don’t know, but I’m sure we should be good at both! With this event in mind I believe Steve Pullen and Brian Miller are looking into a local hostelry so that we can get some practice in. As soon as I have any details I will let up you know. Gerry Burkitt says he would like to lead the beer aspects of the team – clearly he is well qualified.

Bookings for our weekend in the New Forest - with a discounted visit to Beaulieu - are still coming in thick and fast. I would like to thank New Forest Centre for their support in this joint venture. Please contact Ann or Brian Miller as soon as you can if you would like to go on this trip, thanks again to Ann, Brian and Heidi for getting this exciting weekend together.

This month we have our visit to the Morgan Factory – with talk of a new concept car we should be in for a fascinating day.  For those of you that have booked a place, please meet at the Factory reception at 10: 30 am – see you there!

As you know we have the tremendous Fawley Steam Day coming up very soon. On the day it will be Terry Tedman’s birthday, which will make it a perfect day for Terry. Please note that Terry doesn’t have many tickets left, so if you don’t want to be disappointed please contact Terry as soon as possible, thank you Terry for organising this very special day for us.

Last year with our scenic run we raised over £1000 for Cancer charities, this year we have expanded this fun event to include a barbeque and raffle - with all proceeds going to Marie Curie Cancer Care.

The scenic run will take in the beautiful Berkshire downs, and sights including a deer park, Tudor villages and ancient monuments, with a stop for picnics and kite flying at White Horse Hill. The entry fee is £5 per car, sponsorship and entry forms are available from me. A special prize will be awarded to the person who raises the most money.

The scenic run will finish with a sumptuous barbeque, the menu including whole salmon, legs of lamb, homemade steak burgers, and exciting vegetarian options, as well as a range of salads and puddings, wine and soft drinks, all included in the ticket price of £10.00 per person. All proceeds will go to the charity.

The raffle will be drawn at the barbeque; some fantastic prizes have already been donated, including a mountain bike! Tickets will be available on the day, but also from me at any of the noggins over the next few months – at only £1 per ticket it’s worth a try! If you have any prizes to donate please let us know.

As last year, I would like this day to be one of remembrance for the friends and love ones in the Centre that we have lost. I am sure they will be with us while we our out there in the lovely countryside enjoying our Morgans. Please support this event if you can. The run and barbeque will be held on 3rd July 2005.

This month our walk in the Chilterns takes us to Frithsden.

A Walk from Frithsden

Sunday 24th April 2005

We shall meet at the car park for the Alford Arms public house at 10.30 am. The pub is two miles north-east of Berkhamsted. Take the White Hill road between Berkhamsted Castle and the railway, ignore New Road, and follow the signs to Frithsden. The walk is three and three quarter miles in length, taking in three lovely valleys with some hills to climb – oh goody! All our pubs to date on our walks have been very good, with great food and drink. If you just want to join us for a noggin we should be back about 13:00 for lunch. This pub should be particularly good as it brews its own beer! I hope to see you there.

Take care & see you all soon
