I guess it is rather like searching for the next
James Bond, or in our case Jane Bond, for sometime we have been looking for
the right person, with the time, commitment, tenacity and drive to become the
next Thames Valley Centre regalia officer – let’s face it Geoff Giles and
Jim Bellew are tough acts to follow! Well I am very pleased to be able to tell
you, we now have found our new regalia officer, Jane Davies. Jane is well
placed for the role, with her love of fashion, gold jewellery and fast cars. A
suitable cocktail of interests also include wine, gardening, music, dancing,
travel and marine fish. This should put Jane into a good position to come up
with possibly a broader range of regalia items to tempt you! Please contact
Jane as she is awaiting your orders.
I
would like to take this opportunity to thank Geoff Giles for all his hard work
during his time as our regalia officer. On every measure Geoff had a very
successful run, for example he sold world wide over two hundred of our Thames
Valley car badges - thank you very much Geoff. I do enjoy it at MOG events,
walking around looking at the parked Morgans and inspecting all those Thames
Valley car badges. Jim Bellew also did some great ground work on our second
badge design, while Mike Aldrich put together the original Thames Valley which
is now a valuable collector’s item. Thank you guys, one day at a noggin, we
may see four regalia officers all together – you never know! I would like to
wish you all the best in your new role Jane; it is good to have you on the
team!
Due
to the doubts associated with the opening position of the Phoenix, for the time
being we shall be going to the Poacher at South Warnborough, near Odiham on the
road to Alton, on the third Thursday evening noggin. I would welcome any views
on whether we should make this a permanent change of venue. Thanks.
This
month our walk in the Chilterns takes us to Marsworth.
A Walk from Marsworth
Sunday 27th
February 2005
We
shall meet at the car park for the White Lion public house at 10.30 am. The pub
is on the B489 where it crosses the Grand Union Canal two miles North of Tring.
The walk is only three miles long
with an option to do another mile or so if we want; it will be very easy going.
We will be walking along a part of the Grand Union Canal, so it should
be quite interesting. All our pubs to date on our walks have been very good,
with great food. If you just want to join us for a noggin we should be back
about 13:00 for lunch. I hope to see you there.
Take care & see you all soon - Roger.
