Early this month we have the Scenic Run and Barbeque for Marie Curie Cancer Care. Geoff Giles and Helen Thorne have been working very hard on a brilliant run through the Chilterns and Berkshire Downs – so it should be good! Thank you all very much for your kind support. We should have a lovely day. I would like to thank Geoff and Helen for the run. I hope to see you there.

Don’t forget this month Pam and Mike Aldrich will be holding our Annual Centre dinner at the Grovefield House Hotel, Burnham. Please contact Pam and Mike if you would like to attend. The hotel has some lovely grounds to enjoy before the dinner, I would like to thank Pam and Mike for organising this lovely evening for us.

On August 6th we are holding a friendly Beer and Skittles evening with the local Marcos car club. We shall be holding a formal match in October with an inter-club challenge trophy to play for. If you are interested in attending either or both please contact me as soon as you can. It will be good practice for our New Forest weekend. A Scaletrix race will be part of both evenings. Our development department are currently building a Morgan Scaletrix Car to ensure the Marcos Car is left behind in our dust.  Morgans rule OK!

Jerry Tanner has informed me that the operation of the Hurley Riverside Picnic Grounds has changed for 2005. It is now a "members only" operation, with a barrier installed. Hopefully, this is good news for us! The purpose of the change is to ensure that all patrons will be identified to the proprietor. Jerry is a member of the grounds, and Jerry has negotiated a Special Arrangement for the Thames Valley Centre. Upon advance application Jerry will be issued with day tickets which can be used on the day. To make this work Jerry would like payment of £6.00 and your name and address, by 15 July. This will give Jerry time to obtain the tickets, and distribute them. Thank you Jerry for sorting this out for us, the event will be less ad hoc but I think it should be even more peaceful and relaxing. Please contact Jerry if you would like to go on this lovely day out.

Sunday of our New Forest August bank holiday weekend includes a full day at the Beaulieu National Motor Museum; we shall be parking altogether in a specially designated area for Morgans within the grounds of the Museum. Please contact Ann or Brian Miller as soon as you can if you would like to go on this trip, the first batch of Beaulieu tickets have now all been sold.  However, we have now applied for some more tickets. Thanks again are due to Ann, Brian and Heidi for getting this exciting weekend together.

The Brighton Speed Trials are coming up fast and at the time of writing I am in the process of completing my entry form. This year is the Centenary of the Trials and consequently they will be particularly special on this occasion. Celebrity drivers are expected and more than likely the media will be there in force. I just hope I get an entry as it will be a fantastic day. I have to furnish a photograph of my Morgan to be included in a Centenary programme; all the cars entered on the day will be in the programme. If you can make it down to Brighton this year I would highly recommend it. Hopefully I will see you there!

Our walk this month takes us to Ley Hill and the lovely Chess Valley.

 A Walk from Ley Hill

 Sunday 24th July 2005

We shall meet at the car park for the Swan public house at 10.30 am. The pub is two miles east of Chesham. Join White Hill from the A416 at Chesham and follow the road signs to Ley Hill. The walk is three and a half miles in length; this is an easy open walk taking in the lovely Chess Valley. All our pubs to date on our walks have been very good, with great food and drink. If you just want to join us for a noggin we should be back about 13:00 for lunch. I hope to see you there.

Take care & see you all soon
