We had a very exciting time back in September, as a friend said to me a “golden month”. I was lucky enough to visit on the first weekend the Shoreham Air show, then the next weekend it was the Brighton Speed Trials, then the weekend after that brought the Goodwood Revival meeting, and then we had Teresa and Terry Tedman’s marvellous visit to the Hell Fire Club caves.

The night before our visit to the Caves in West Wycombe, a team had spent the night in the depths of the caves to do some paranormal research. They heard some bumps and noises with apparitions that did frighten some of the team – so who are you going to call? Well fortunately when we arrived, Teresa lent us some detection equipment, with some interesting results. This will be fully reported in our newsletter in due course. Our morning at the Caves was very enjoyable, we hope to be returning to see the landscaped gardens of West Wycombe Park in the very near future – so please watch this space. The main purpose of our visit was to raise funds for Marie Curie Cancer Care, I am very pleased to be able to tell you that Teresa, Terry and their daughter raised £140 on the day – simply fantastic! On behalf of the Centre I would like to thank Teresa, Terry and their team very much indeed. I look forward to our return.

Next year I hope to coordinate tickets for the Shoreham Air show and the Goodwood Revival, please contact me if you would like to go. At Shoreham for example, along with the great flying displays there is an interesting show of classic cars to enjoy as well.

While we are thinking about next year, Bert Oslar is contemplating hiring a river boat on the Thames with live music for an evening trip possibly in mid-summer. If you would be interested in such an event please have a chat with Bert or myself at a noggin, we would like to gauge the level of interest before we potentially go ahead. I think it could be great fun; of course all Centres would be welcome.

Our walk in the Chilterns this month takes us to the delights of Great Missenden. See the Events page for more details
