At the time of writing I have just returned from our joint August Bank Holiday weekend with the New Forest Centre. It was a wonderful weekend enjoyed immensely by all that attended. From the kick off on the Friday might with our Inter-Centre Beer and Skittles, to the scenic runs, the very special fun and games on Saturday night, the day out at Beaulieu, the Sunday evening weekend dinner and our peaceful walk in the New Forest on Monday - it was just superb fun. I would like to thank the New Forest Centre for making us feel so welcome and for all their support at the various events. The donated prizes for Saturday were very welcome – thank you. I would like to congratulate Mike Harris from Sexmog and partner for winning the Saturday evening trophy and our very own Geoff Giles for winning the Beer and Skittles.
To pull such a brilliant weekend together takes a great deal of hard work. On behalf of the Centre I would like to thank Ann, Brian and Heidi Miller and their team very much indeed. Ann and Brian’s other daughter Helen and her husband Andy did a wonderful job helping out over the weekend, Andy doing a marvellous job running the massive barbeque for Saturday evening. I hope we will be able to have many more joint ventures with the New Forest in the future. I was really pleased to see so many Centres represented over the weekend. The New Forest was the place to be.
Our scenic run held for Marie Curie Cancer Care was a great success, when I have a grand total I will let you know. I would like to thank Helen Thorne and her team for the lovely day out we all enjoyed together. In particular a special mention is due for Helen’s Mum and the wonderful food she did for our barbeque – it was quite delicious. I have been dreaming about Sticky Toffee pudding ever since.
Also, during our busy summer, Mike and Pam Aldrich held our Centre dinner. I would like to thank Mike and Pam for a very enjoyable evening.
Many of us made it along to MOG MMV for a very pleasant weekend. On behalf of the Centre I would like to thank Oxmog and their team for all their hard work. It was nice to be able to meet up with so many old friends.
During October we will be holding a return Beer and Skittles match against the Marcos Car Club. Last time we came second, this time fresh from the New Forest I hope we shall do a little better. Please contact me if you would like to come along – thanks.
Our walk in the Chilterns this month takes us Bryant’s Bottom near the Hughenden Valley not far from High Wycombe – a beautiful spot. See our Events Page for details
