Rather belatedly I would like to congratulate Robin and Yvette Henderson on their recent nuptials. In a way our latest trip to Ireland was a sort of honeymoon for Robin and Yvette. I was therefore pleased that our host in Cong, in their honour, gave them the “Sean Thornton” room for their stay in the Quiet Man guest house, every room is dedicated to a character from this famous movie. During our stay and our re-enactment, of course Robin and Yvette had the John Wayne and Maureen O’Hara roles while I appropriately had the Michaleen Oge Flynn – the matchmaker part at one point as well as playing the catholic priest. Just as well I am a character actor.

We did have an enjoyable trip to Ireland. It was particularly nice meeting other Morgan owners’ from around the UK that were able to join us. I would like to thank the Morgan owners’ from Ireland for escorting us through Dublin at the beginning of our trip and for the tour they gave us in the Waterford area leading up to our return to Dublin. It was an eventful holiday for many of us. We had a few Morgan niggles but fortunately nothing too serious. I managed to survive a bite from an Alsatian where as poor Peter Page had to cope with a broken leg. We were both glad that we had our European Health cards with us. The health service in the Republic gave us excellent treatment with Peter seeing the best bone surgeon in the country. You will be glad to hear we are both home safely now and Peter is well on the mend.

I would like to thank everyone that supported our trip to Ireland and I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did. Moreover, I would like to thank Robin and Yvette for organising such a wonderful tour. However, Robin and Yvette you must remember that there will be “no patty fingers if ya please”.

Our first Sunday noggin venue the Leather Bottle has been revamped and has been taken over by a well known chain of pub/restaurants. We have given it a couple of visits and it unfortunately no longer fits our needs. Some people like to eat at our noggins; others just like to turn up for a chat and a drink. However, the Leather Bottle is now keen that everyone should be having a meal. So we have decided by popular request to go to the Poacher for the first Sunday noggin. Here we are most welcome and if you would like to eat the Poacher does an excellent value Sunday lunch. We shall continue with two visits to the Poacher for the time being while we review the situation during the autumn months.

This month we are organising what we have called the “Brighton Speed Trials weekend” with Brighton Centre. On Saturday 8th we shall be attending the trials that are held along Madeira drive and in the evening we will be going to the famous Prompt Corner restaurant in the centre of Brighton. Then on Sunday 9th we shall be going along to a noggin at the Golden Galleon pub in the Seven Sisters National Park just down the road from Seaford. If you would like to join us for the weekend please let me know. If you would like to come along to the restaurant in the evening please contact me and I can then book you a place. It should be an immensely enjoyable weekend. I can also help with any accommodation enquiries.

Take care & see you all soon
