Friday 30th April:

We will gather on Friday 30th April, evening time is free if you wish (subject to your planned time of arrival). Your evening meal can be taken at the hotel at a special Morgan reduced rate (half the normal price). The hotel can also book your ferry crossing if you wish (£55 from Portsmouth or Lymington), please check out the rates as the hotel's may be competitive.

Saturday 1st May:

Saturday will start with breakfast and then head out on a scenic run to the west coast via the Military Road on the south coast. We will arrive at Alum Bay and "play" with coloured sand, watch glass blowing, watch sweets being made and even go down the chair lift to the beach and may take a short boat ride out to the Needles. We will return via the central road to the hotel and stop off at a couple of venues along the way. Lunch may be at the Wight Mouse (good meals!!), subject to our timing and the weather. We have arranged a Morgan dinner for the Saturday night at the hotel (the cost is included in our price).

Sunday 2nd May:

Sunday will see us set off after breakfast via a circuitous route to the Isle of Wight Steam Railway, where they also have a beer festival!!!!). Alternative venues are available for those with less interest in steam railways!! These will be included in your rally pack. Again, a circuitous route back to the hotel. We have a "free" evening, but again a great discount to eat at the hotel, although we are just a short distance from Shanklin old village with many places to eat. Again, we think the timing and weather will play a part.

Monday 3rd May:

After breakfast and checkout, we are sure bags can be left in reception (or probably Sue & Geoff's room should they stay another day). We plan some time on Shanklin beach and compete for the Glenn Davies Memorial Trophy (currently held by Sue Giles). The competition will be in Boules played to "open" rules - ie if we like it then that is the way we play!! Shanklin beach must be approximately opposite the Le Touquet beach where the last competition took place two years ago. After dusting off the sand we will probably migrate to Osbourne House, before those of you who must depart and make your way to your respective harbours.

What do I do next?

Contact Geoff Giles on 01491 641600 or geoff_a_giles@hotmail.com and I will explain more. We have a limited number of rooms reserved and so early booking is to be recommended. We can give your hotel details and prices. Single room rates or upgrades may be possible as required. You will book your own ferry (maybe through the hotel if you wish) and also your hotel booking direct as some may wish to stay a longer time. This also avoids us being classified as travel agents and all the usual issues.
