I am pleased to be able to report that the Upper Thames Motor Yacht Club has invited us to a day out at their facilities near Sonning. The format of the day is that we arrive around 10:30am at the Upper Thames Motor Yacht Club, Mill Island, Sonning on Saturday 13th June. Their post code is RG4 6TW. We will then have a look round and at lunchtime there will be a barbeque at approximately £5 per head. Joining us will be the local Harley group. In the morning the boaters will go out for short trips with Hog and Mog owners and in the afternoon we shall all go for a short trip on the River Thames - appropriately. Upon our return we will enjoy afternoon tea after which we can leave as and when we like. There is no need to book but we would like an idea of numbers, so please contact Richard Orton of the Yacht Club or myself. I hope you will be able to join us at the beautiful location of the club, please see www.utmyc.org. Richard can be contacted on telephone: 01189343132 or 07983721818. It should be great day out.
The eagle eyed amongst you will notice that our visit to the yacht club coincides with the Bracknell Motor Show. Unfortunately, the dates are fixed, we committed ourselves to Bracknell as a local club, especially since the show is supporting a neighbouring children’s charity. We did our best to move the yacht club visit but as you can imagine the summer is their busiest time. Nevertheless, we already have good support for the Bracknell show so if you would like to do a spot of cruising on the Thames please come along. Of course the idea of going on to the Ace Café in the evening is relevant whether you go to Sonning or Bracknell.
Incidentally, Bert Oslar is a long standing member of the Upper Thames Motor Yacht Club. Through Bert and on behalf of the Centre, I would like to thank them for their kind invitation. Have a great day. It will be busy.
Don’t forget early on this month we have the Early Bird Classic Car Tour for Classic Cars being organised by Hants & Berks Motor Club, on Sunday 3rd May 2009. For those who have booked I look forward to seeing you there – I will have my widescreen, high definition movie camera running, you have been warned.
Also, in May there is the ever popular Hambleden Classic car show. Please contact Peter Freelove for details. It is always a special day in beautiful surroundings with all monies collected going to local charities.
Our next Centenary walk in Surrey this year takes us to the Hare and Hounds in Godstone. I hope to see you at the pub car park at 10:30am, hopefully with fine weather, with your walking boots on.
