Following the resounding success of our New Years Dinner this year, the Committee are delighted to invite you to the major event of our Centre's calendar. 

The dinner will again take place in the Golf Club at Castle Royle Country Club on the A4 at Knowl Hill.
After the meal we will have the presentation of the ThamesMOG Trophies, and a talk by our Guest Speaker. Dennis Woods.
Antarctic Reflections
Dennis Woods has been to both the North and South Poles. His talk Antarctic Reflections is accompanied by a slide presentation and short video clips which cover his journey, preparations, training along with some background on early exploration.

Dennis was a member of the Airborne Forces in the 1970’s serving in 562 Para Sqn. RCT (V) and at the same time building his own oil distribution company.

His taste for adventure has never waned and so after he sold his business he joined a group trekking to The North Pole in 2008.  The 100th anniversary of Scott and Amundsen’s race to The South Pole triggered his adventure in 2011 – 2012 in Antarctica.
His talk is lively, sometimes humorous but above all Dennis tries to describe what it is like to spend weeks in sub-zero temperatures in the world’s most inhospitable climate when your top priority 24/7 is survival.


New Year Dinner 2019 - Menu

Roast Onion and Cider Soup topped with Crunchy Croutons and Crème Fraiche
Chicken Liver Pate served with Walnut Toast and Red Onion Chutney
Basa Fillet Oven Baked with a Chorizo & Cheddar Rarebit on Wilted Spinach Finished with a White Garlic Cream Sauce
Roast Leg of Pork served with Grilled Apple, Black Pudding & Pork Bon Bons,  Crispy Crackling and a Cider Gravy
All main courses are served with a selection of vegetables and potatoes
Sticky Toffee Pudding with Vanilla Ice Cream and Salted Caramel Sauce
Coffee and Mints
The menu is a set cost per head of £32.00.

A vegetarian option is available, if you would prefer.
