Description
The event will be under the umbrella of the MogSquad*, an informal group of MSCC members who organise events focused around driving - including finding out what their wonderful sports car can do - rather than visits/socialising/noggins/etc which the local centres do so well.
The drive will be on Tuesday 28 July 2026; and bookings are now open. It will start near Woodstock, driving off at 0900 (with briefing at 0845 and optional breakfast from 0730) and end in the early afternoon near Winchcombe.
Route summary:
We will experience the full variety of Cotswold roads, from fast B-roads with sweeping views to narrow (and maybe a bit bumpy) single-lane tracks through farmland. We will see pretty honey-coloured villages, rolling hills, dry-stone walls, beautiful churches funded by the wealthy medieval wool merchants … and plenty of sheep. The route is around 73 miles and will take around three hours of driving (two before the coffee stop and one after). We will finish with a hearty ploughman’s lunch using fine local produce.
We would rate this run as:
- Driving difficulty: Moderate with a couple of 1.5 mile stretches of Advanced
- Navigation difficulty: Easy-Moderate, but we will be using a new app (MyRoute-App)
- Scenery potential: Excellent (with some only Good where the unmown grass verge is higher than a Morgan!)
- Driving fun potential: Good with several portions of Excellent including two of the best driving roads in the Cotwolds.
