RAF Odiham 2023 part 2

A second impression of the day at Odiham this year.

RAF Odiham 2023

The RAF Odiham Freinds and Families day got off to a very wet start this year.  83 Morgans had signed up to attend from a number of local centres but a significant number were put off by the weather.  In the end 49 turned up creditable enough! The weather cleared up late in the morning but low cloud persisted so the flying display was substantially curtailed. There was non the less some interesting aircraft there to supplement the Chinooks that are stationed at Odiham. Kempton Steam Museum 2023

On Sunday 23rd. April, The Thames Valley Centre visited The Steam Museum at Kempton on a Steaming Weekend. One weekend a month from March to November the museum runs one of their enormous reciprocating steam engines in steam. Because we were a large party, the museum asked us to arrive at 9am before the doors opened to the public at 10:30. Some five Morgans gathered in the car park of The Harte & Magpies at 8 to convoy, the others joining us there. I counted 15 Morgans parked up in front of the Museum, unfortunately there were some last-minute dropouts

Pitstone Museum Open Day 2022

The Pitstone Museum was a very successful day out. I was not expecting much in the way of Morgans apart from mine, however, we had six Moggies in total and one cancellation due to hot weather. One advantage of the Pitstone museum is that there is plenty of shade under trees plus some very large old barns with displays of crafts , etc. There were a group of hand bell ringers to entertain us.   The museum has a good collection of Barn engines all chugging away,  but pride of place must go to a Crossely single cylinder gas

RAF Benson 2022

Once again we were lucky enough to be invited to provide a display for the RAF Benson Families day.  This is a day of entertainment put on for RAF personnel and their families.  It's a sort of fete with added air display.  The invitation arrives well in advance of the day but we have to provide a list of those that will attend and we are not given much notice for that.  So we got together a small group and awaited further instructions. When the day came a number had been struck down by illnesses, both human and automotive, and

Chorleywood Classic Car Show 2022

There was an array of Morgan owners at the show. Andy and Lynne Doughty and myself of course. Peter Page was coming but as a rear brake cylinder had seized up he felt he should stay at home and try and fix it.   We did see Jerry and Eileen Tanner, whom some folk will remember. Their son is looking after their plus 8 and he drove down from Northamptonshire to be at the show (and to see his Mum and Dad).   I met up with a couple from High Wycombe with a very nice Flat Rad Morgan
