Why Visit the Factory?

People ask me, “Why are you visiting the Morgan factory again? You’ve seen it once before”. Well, I find that on every factory tour I take, I learn a little more about Morgan, Morgan cars, and the car build process, and the ThamesMOG trip to the factory last week was no exception. The introduction of the Morgan CX bonded aluminium chassis in 2019 required a complete change in the sequence of building a Morgan, compared to building a car with the steel ladder chassis that had been used in Morgan cars for the previous 83 years. West Green House 2020

During, what appeared to be, a brief spell between Lockdown 1 and Lockdown 2, ThamesMOG had a busy time of Noggins and events. One of these events was a visit to the West Green House Classic Car Show in September. Back in 2016 ThamesMOG had visited West Green House on one of its monthly outings. Isn’t it interesting how Morgans can open doors…. As we assembled in the car park, the leaseholder of West Green House, Marylyn Abbott, came up to us to say that Morgans are her favourite car. How many other marques would receive that type of affection?

Benson 2019

Once again a big thankyou to Dave Cleveland for coordinating the ThamesMog and MSCC presence at the RAF Benson Families day. 29 assorted trad Morgans turned up by far the largest contingent of any marque that looked all the same :) . Some pictures courtesy of Dave and Ann Vodden.
