After the excitement of MOG 2010, we have a busy month ahead of us. I know many of you will be heading off for Classic Le Mans. I wish you all bon voyage.
Also, this month we are once again at the Rotary Club of Uxbridge Annual Uxbridge Auto Show, now in its 27th year. At this late stage please contact Allan Moore or Mike Smith
At Silverstone there is some classic racing with air displays over the weekend of July 23rd to July 25th. This should be a great weekend of racing. Lastly, we have the Chiltern Open Air Museum with vehicle and motorcycle displays in an old farm, park and woodland setting, to look forward to.
I would like to thank everyone that supported our hog roast last month. I hope this event will grow to become one of our regular annual bashes. I would like to thank Tim Marsh for all his hard work and enthusiasm in getting this one off the ground. A shindig like this is great fun. Tim is a long standing member of the Centre, going back to the late sixties I believe, correct me Tim if I have got it wrong please. I certainly remember Tim telling about his early experiences of driving his fifties Plus 4 which I am sure ran into the sixties. Incidentally, for all you youngsters, when I mention the fifties or the sixties even, I am referring to our Centre activities that occurred in the 20th Century. Yes, thirty years of our existence, so far, has taken place in the last Century.
As we approach our 40th birthday, Tim Marsh felt it would be good to resurrect the hog roast event with beer, music, and camping plus Morgan sports cars, to revive some of our past activities. With this is mind of course, we are building up to our 40th Anniversary dinner to be held in November at the Bird In Hand. This will be a special event. Please contact Mike Aldrich if you would like to go as soon as you can as we are taking bookings now on a first come first served basis. You can find Mike´s contact details on the events page.
If you were a previous regular at the Reading, Grogmog or even Thames Valley Centre, I would love to hear from you, if you still able to read this column. I would like to hear your memories so that we can pull together a comprehensive history for our Ruby dinner. Naturally, if you would like to join us for our 40th Anniversary dinner you would be most welcome. Just think when our Centre was formed you could still spend shillings.
