Walking along the Strand the other day, around 17:00, I saw my first Aero Super sports negotiating the early evening rush hour traffic heading towards Trafalgar Square. The young man driving looked the part; in fact the Morgan looked in its element. The added protection of the "tiger" top and the sturdy stance of the vehicle gave the feeling this sports car could be used every day as you would, say, with a Porsche 911. So is the City the stomping ground of the Aero along with autobahns of Europe? Whatever the answer it was great to see. I look forward to seeing my first new Morgan three-wheeler built in 2010/11 in Malvern, next.
I would like to thank everyone that joined us to celebrate the formation of our Centre at our 40th Anniversary dinner held at the Bird In Hand. I would like to thank Pam and Mike Aldrich for what was a memorable and enjoyable evening. Also, I would like to thank everyone involved in helping out during the dinner and of course Elvis for his silky-smooth tones. Arthur and Chris were well remembered and honoured; we can now look forward to the next forty years.
With the future in mind, after our events planning meeting held back in October, we have identified two new roles within the Centre: Andy Doughty will be managing details of people associated with the Centre and Mike Smith will be taking over responsibility for the circulation of information pertaining to the activities of the Centre, including our newsletter. To start with, we need to refresh our circulation list for the Centre. Therefore, please send to me your current email address that you would be happy for us to use for information on our events and newsletter. I will then ask your permission for us to send to you our messages accordingly, with Andy and Mike in their new roles. If you are out of our area and just want to receive our newsletter, for its general snippets on Morgan sports cars and what we get up to, then please let me know and we will accommodate you accordingly. This month's walk takes in Ramsbury on the River Kennet in Wiltshire.
Looking a few weeks ahead, I am pleased to say we have planned a dramatic, beautiful, breathtaking walk to begin 2011. We shall enter the Beachy Head estate for a walk to the top of one of the Seven Sisters, as featured on Country File recently. Let's hope we meet Julia when we are there. I hope you will be able to join us.
