As this is our December Centre report, I would like to wish all the readers of this column a very happy Christmas and a wonderful New Year with above all good health! To celebrate, as normal, we have a Christmas lunch at the Hampden Arms with Anita Pullen while I shall be running our Christmas Dinner at the Poacher. These events are very special and set us up well for the festive season. Please contact Anita or myself if you want to go depending on which event you fancy, we will tell you if there are any places left at this late stage, of course you can be like me and go to both! I look forward to seeing you all there. With all these festivities it is just as well we get a lot of exercise!
Last month I mentioned that Bert Oslar was contemplating hiring a river boat on the Thames with live music for an evening trip possibly in mid-summer. Well, we are now going full steam ahead. Please contact Bert if you would like to go. Mike and Pam Aldrich will be booking a jazz band for the evening so it should be a superb night. All Centres with their families and friends are welcome. Tickets will be allocated on a first come first served basis and at the time of writing interest was high. I look forward to seeing you aboard the Jolly Roger!
Also next year, Glenn and Jane Davies are planning a long weekend in Cornwall over the first bank holiday in May. We hope to meet up with the Cornwall Centre when we are down there. Please contact Glenn and Jane if you are interested. During the weekend, a visit to the Eden Project is planned. It should be a lovely trip I look forward to seeing you there.
Over Easter next year I also hope to organise a weekend in the Lakes based in and around the beautiful town of Keswick. Please contact me if you would be interested in this excursion. Once again we hope to hold a breathtaking noggin, but this time somewhere beautiful in the mountains, I hope you will be able to come.
It looks like 2006 is shaping up very nicely, to round off the series of exciting events to look forward to, Geoff Giles and Tom West are looking into organising a long weekend in Arundel, Sussex on the August bank holiday weekend. This should also be a tremendous event. Thank you chaps!
Due to a busy month (all that Christmas shopping) our December walk in the Chilterns has been moved to the New Year as described on our events page.
To end my Centre reports for 2005 I would like to thank everyone for all their hard work in organising events during the year. I would also like to thank those of you who have supported our events, making all the effort worthwhile. And finally I think we can justifiably feel quite excited with all the events we have to look forward to next year - so far!
