I must apologise to Frank Lomax for not getting the details of his trip around Britain’s coastal roads into my centre report before now. On our website you can find a link where you can give Frank your support, By the time you read this we hope Frank will have completed 4650 miles around Britain’s Coastal roads in his Morgan Roadster 100, with all monies going to support ‘Help for Heroes.’
Apparently, Frank was listening to the car radio one day, when he heard someone say that if you drive across North London to the coast and then turn left and keep going you would eventually arrive back at London on the South Side. This notion gave Frank an idea. Last year the Roadster 100 Register held a successful Charity Event for Help for Heroes at Waddesdon Manor but so far this year they had nothing planned. Putting both together, Frank’s thought and ambitions for fund raising,, Frank decided that during April 2012, he would make a solo circuit of the coastal roads of Britain in his Morgan Roadster 100 car while hoping to raise sponsorship for the event through peoples’ kind support. His plan was to complete this journey over twenty-two consecutive days.
His route involved travelling the same anti clockwise direction, from North London, River Thames Side, up the East Coast to John O Groats, then Across the top of Scotland, Down the West Side including Wales and Cornwall to Lands End before travelling along the South Coast and back around North Kent Coast before arriving home via South London, all using the A & B Class Coastal Roads. Well done Frank and I hope you had a safe journey.

For this month’s National Trust advertised visit, we are going to a grand Tudor house at the Vyne with fine furniture, portraits, textiles and sculpture. The gardens and grounds feature an ornamental lake, woodlands and wetlands, wildlife, waterfowl and bird hide. You can find details on the event's page here.
Also, this month we have a weekend away with Sue and Geoff Giles taking in the beauty and sights of East Sussex, including another railway and a bit of sport on the beach. Hopmog and Sexmog are joining us, so it will be nice meeting up with some old friends while making some new ones, of course. .Many thanks to Sue and Geoff for organising this weekend event, it should be a very special trip indeed.
