Some of you may have noticed a trend in our culture, a move away from a traditional night at one’s local for a pint to perhaps a cafe or even more restaurant oriented night out. Are more people eating out rather than cooking at home? I don’t know the answer to this question but we have noticed a trend. I have seen it said that twenty-five pubs close a week and I guess to reverse this trend pubs are changing. At the most recent noggin at the Chequers we met the new landlady. The pub is now very much a restaurant and their aspirations don’t really match with our requirements of a noggin venue anymore. So for the first Sunday of the month the noggin venue has changed to: The Waterwitch, Colt Hill, Odiham, Hook, Hampshire RG29 1AL Tel: 01256 702778. Ted and Linda Kannemeyer have tried the lunch, spoken to the manager, and this venue will be pleased to accommodate us on our first Sunday of the month noggin – the location is right next to the canal so the surroundings are quite pleasant. The car park is also very good for our Morgan sports cars. The only drawback is that to eat inside they would like us to book ahead. Ted and Linda don’t mind doing this for people but it would need to be done on a monthly basis. Ted and Linda propose that we start going to the Waterwitch from the first Sunday from now on to see how we get on. If you do plan to go to the Waterwitch in the future please try to let Ted and Linda know at least a week ahead so they can estimate the number of places needed
Please don’t forget this month our visit to the Ashridge Estate, on the Chiltern Hills with its beautiful woodlands, commons, chalk down land and wildlife. It should be a great day out. I hope to see you there.
At the Bird In Hand this month we have our open event planning meeting. Please come along to hear ideas for upcoming events for 2014 and beyond. There will be an open microphone for anyone to put forward any ideas they may have for future events. For example, it was at last year’s meeting that Ian Wilson proposed his canal boat trip that we enjoyed last month. So do please bring along your ideas. We are here to facilitate and to encourage the enjoyment and exercising of our Morgan Sports Cars. I hope you can make it to the meeting – it will be great fun.
