I would like to thank David and Sheila Williams for organising our annual dinner. The venue was super and the food exquisite. If it had been a summer evening we would have had a panoramic view of the golf course. It is a beautiful spot.

Also, I would like to thank David Mansfield for organising the speaker for the evening. We were all fascinated by the exploits of a metal detectorist. From what I can make out, the speaker was almost halfway to becoming a millionaire. He said that when he has worked out an hourly rate over the years – he would be well below minimum wage. This gives you some idea how many hours he has spent metal detecting.

During the evening I had the honour to announce the winner of the FH Douglas trophy for 2017. As a reminder it is the centre member that has travelled the farthest in their Morgan in one calendar year. Our guest speaker kindly agreed to present the trophy, so after some maths; I was pleased to announce that Steve Bridge was the winner for 2017. Congratulations Steve. If you had been there you would have found out how many miles he had done. Nevertheless, if you would like to enter for 2018 please record your mileage, and good luck.

It was a great night at the Castle Royle Golf Course, I do hope we will be able to go back to the venue, for have found a real diamond. Well done everyone.

Thames Valley Centre car badges available on eBay - beware

Don’t forget please, as reported previously, a Morgan owner from Australia has brought to our attention that Thames Valley Car badges are for sale on eBay. They appear to be our badges but we would like to point out that these sales are nothing to do with us or our previous suppliers. They are very highly priced, and please remember we can supply Thames Valley car badges new at the nominal club price. If you see any regalia out there and are interested please check with us first. I would like to thank our Australian customer for letting us know about these items.

While on this subject we have come across a website that details fake badges: https://www.morgancarbadges.com/fake-badges
