It was great to come across a well garnished, Morgan three-wheeler in the car park for the recent Headcorn Air show. As I stood admiring the Morgan, overhead there was a dog fight between a Spitfire and a ME109 – the Spit had been scrambled to save the airfield. Exciting stuff – it was good to see a three-wheeler in a most suitable setting. It was confusing, however, as both the aircraft had Rolls Royce Merlin engines with that magical sound. You need good eyesight to be an aircraft spotter, these days, I think.

Our garden visit will be taking a break this month, for our holidays. Never fear, we shall be back in the autumn with all those beautiful colours. Please remember, on Saturday 10th August, ThamesMOG are joining with the Farnham Lions for a very special fund raising day at Robert and Tanya Lewis’ premier private collection of classic and supercars. Not only is the collection stunning, but you will be able to enjoy a huge variety of cars from around the country who all gather to support this fantastic day in aid of Help for Heroes. Hyper, Super, Veteran, Classic and Sports - all will be present and a display of specialist army vehicles, as well as other attractions being finalised. Entry to the event is by ticket only. Tickets are per car with as many passengers as it is allowed to carry on the Queens highway. Those of you who have visited this private collection before well know what a splendid day it will be. It will be great to support this Lions event. Lions International is over 100 hundred years old. This fine club is the largest service organisation in the world. It helps a lot of people in need, as they say: ’Where this is a need there is a Lion.’ I am proud we are taking part.
