On 7th September Tim Jones organised a trip to Mapledurham house including a treasure hunt for those so inclined. 17 cars arrived at the Bird in Hand to sign in, pick up their packed lunch and start the Treasure Hunt including one 3 Wheeler. One withdrew due owing to running out of time, 16 made it to Mapledurham and joined 2 non quiz participants.
There was no planned route just a list of questions for the participants to answer while clocking up the lowest possible mileage. The questions covered Marlow, Henley, Wargrave, Shiplake and Caversham amoungst other places.
Answering the questions gave ample opportunity for confusion and for meeting the locals. Including several cars interfering with a photo-shoot for a new mini model and a number of people who "used to own one of those".
A Thames river trip on Devon Belle, (one of the Dunkirk Little Ships) then took place in lovely sunshine followed by tours of Mapledurham Mill and Mapledurham House, one of several houses to claim to be the model for Toad Hall, but perhaps the one with the best claim as it is just down the river from the house supposed to be Ratty's house. Finally there were cream teas to finish off a lovely Summer's day.
The overall positions were:
First Ian Wilson and Andy Lewis who answered all questions correctly, covered 40.1 miles
Second David & Ann Vodden , one wrong answer and 36.6 miles
Third Dave & Jan Cleveland with One wrong answer and 37.2 miles
Ian was presented with the prize of a day's use of a 3 Wheeler kindly donated by Richard and Helen Thorne,
