The big event for us, coming up this month, is the Uxbridge auto show. We attend this marvellous event every year- something for everyone - but this year Mike Smith and his team has gathered together, along with our regulars, an interesting array of Morgans through the ages. Our stand will be depicting a celebration of the Morgan Centenary. It is always a great day out, however, this year it will be especially so. If you would like to attend please contact Mike for details, space is limited but it is still worth a try at this late stage. I would like to thank the team for their efforts in putting up the stand and of course for pulling together the all important Morgan history.
Since the Uxbridge show clashes with the Hampden Arms noggin, it is likely that most people will be at the show rather than at the pub. Nevertheless, half the normal bar area will be reserved for those not going to Uxbridge. The Hampden Arms is unlucky as it clashes with father's day and Uxbridge, every year. Still we are glad of its cosy ambience in the winter.
Roger Prior has booked our slot at Dunsfold. This event was quite spectacular last year and I am sure it will be the same this time. Watching the Red Arrows arriving from all directions is always a thrill, I particularly enjoy watching them take off in formation. This is something not always seen at air shows as often they fly over, do their display and leave. However, at Dunsfold they tend to land and park up � giving a good photo opportunity. I would like to thank you Roger for organising this brilliant event. I hope the Vulcan will be able to make an appearance this year.
In September we have the Brighton Speed Trials weekend. We hope to organise a full weekend of activities in conjunction with the Brighton Centre. At least three Morgans from our area hope to be running this year, along with the other Morgans that normally attend. I am going to try and get the Morgans together in the paddock, as it's our Centenary. It would mean we could return to the paddock in squadron formation, in front of what is normally a capacity Brighton crowd. Please watch this space for further news. This will be the first time in fourteen years that poor Tigger won't be flogging his heart out at Brighton. He is now in a well earned early retirement, or at least for the moment. Good for him. Our next Centenary walk in Surrey this year will be in September, after all the summer Centenary celebrations and takes us to the Plough Inn in Dormansland. I hope to see you at the pub car park at 10:30am, hopefully with fine weather, with your walking boots on.
