At the Uxbridge auto show I had an immensely enjoyable time. The team had cleverly lined up all the Morgans in age order, from the earliest three wheeler through to a Centenary Plus 4, an Aeromax and my Centenary Lightweight. It made for an impressive display. I experienced three pleasant surprises on the day: the first one was that I discovered that there are two Mike Smiths in the world; secondly I was briskly over taken by Heidi Miller in her Plus 4 during the display run and lastly, most importantly, the Thames Valley stand, at the show, won best club stand. A fantastic achievement especially as we are in our Centenary year. I would like to thank and congratulate the team for all their hard work and great success. Also, I would like to thank all who brought their Morgans along for people to see. I am sure the day did a lot of good for our favourite car. We received a great deal of interest from members of the public attending the show. I also would like to thank Lynne Doughty for her lovely hundredth Morgan anniversary cake; it was delicious. Well done to everyone!
In September we have the Brighton Speed Trials weekend. We hope to organise a full weekend of activities in conjunction with the Brighton Centre. At least three Morgans from our area hope to be running this year, along with the other Morgans that normally attend. Mike Hughes will be competing in his newly restored Morgan 4/4, Andrew and Anne Miller will be out in their well sorted Morgan 4/4 bristling with telemetric equipment. Also, I shall be out in my Centenary Lightweight for the first time. I hope you will come down to support us. If you would like to stay over for the weekend, on Sunday 13th we are invited to the Brighton Centre noggin at the Plough at Plumpton. I hope to see you there.
Our next Centenary walk in Surrey this year will be in September, after all the summer Centenary celebrations and takes us to the Plough Inn in Dormansland. I hope to see you at the pub car park at 10:30am, hopefully with fine weather, with your walking boots on.
