We had a very enjoyable Centre dinner in March. I would like to thank Pam and Mike Aldrich for the organising the evening. There is interest in repeating the event in the Summer at the same venue. The Hotel is located next to the River Thames so on a lovely Summer's evening it would be very enjoyable.
On the first Thursday noggin in March, at the Bird In Hand we welcomed Sue and Michael Morgan to the Centre. Sue and Michael had travelled a fair distance to be with us that evening and I was very pleased that they could make it. They have owned their Morgan from new and have brought it a very interesting number plate - MOGIN. I hope you can both join us again soon. During the month Jim Tebby also joined the Centre from Purley-on-Thames. Welcome to the Centre Jim, I hope you can make it to one of our noggins soon.
At the Thursday evening noggin the landlord reserved an area to the right of the main bar. Hence, in future please look out for us in the reserved area otherwise you may not think anyone is there!
In the latest edition of the Thames Valley Centre Newsletter (TVCN) Chris Rowe has provided a cast iron case for Morgans to feature strongly in the Millennium Dome! Also we have published in full Mike Pullen's article on converting a four-speed cross flow engined Morgan to a five speed gearbox. Thank you very much Mike for your permission to publish, we have several Centre members interested in how its done. In the near future I hope to publish a series of technical articles describing Ray Style's twenty-five year rebuild of a competition 4/4. I am currently negotiating with Ray's financially ambitious agent John Gibson - watch this space! The new Thames Valley Morgan Car badges have now been produced. Several people have not told Jim Bellew what colour cars they want and worse still have not paid the balance on monies owed. Manufacturing fifty badges is a serious financial undertaking for a Centre, so please contact Jim as soon as possible!
In July John Sherwood is going to take us for a walk along the River Thames (our heritage) to his picturesque village of Cookham Dean. In August Ann and Quentin English have invited us to a joint HopMog and Thames Valley barbecue at their home after a short walk up Leith Hill. Thank you both very much for the kind invitation. Also in August, Crispin Elt will be organising a convoy run to Silverstone for the Bentley Drivers Club meeting.
