The first Thursday turned out to be a momentous evening. After eight years of service to the centre Richard announced that he felt he no longer had the time available to continue as Centre Secretary. So after some discussions I said I would be very honoured to take on the job.
On behalf of the centre I would like to thank Richard for all his efforts over the years. I sincerely hope Richard will still keep in touch.
Susan and Eric visited Sexmog on the 13th of July to enter the Brighton and Hove Motor Club Concours d'Elegance at Preston Park, Brighton. They enjoyed a beautiful day along with a great turn out of classic and concours cars. For the first time there was a Morgan section. Chris Wood of Sexmog managed to organise a good representation of cars for this first attendance. The overall winner was a Daimler Dart in stunning condition, however the Morgan clubs did very well with Sue and Chris Godwin (Sexmog) winning the Concours d'Elegance and our very own Susan and Eric Mason winning 1st in class in their Morgan +4 - well done!
There was a good turn out of eight or so cars at the Queens Oak. After the meeting James M'Claren gave Joe Phillips a vital ignition switch for his cross-flow 4/4. Joe was very grateful and he asked if he could thank James very much through our centre report - consider it done.
We also had some success at Mog 97. Philip Male back from France for a short break partnered Alec Saunders in the gymkhana in the +8 class, winning 3rd in class - great news! This is certainly a good month to start off as Centre Secretary.
Philip and Caroline Male will be back in Toulouse by the time this report is published. We intend to open a Toulouse branch of Thames Valley with at least three members. Hopefully I shall be able to report regular news from our most southerly offshoot.
Mike Aldrich intends to organise a Christmas dinner for the Centre early next year. Please contact either myself or Mike interested. It is a good idea to get this sort of event sorted earlier rather than later.
I hope to be able to obtain shortly, Centre sweat/polo shirts; if any one is interested please let me know.
Finally, I would like to form a Centre committee as soon as possible. If there are any volunteers please get in touch. During the next few months I would like to start organising Centre events for the next year. Any ideas for things to do will be most welcome.
