We have a busy first weekend in September with the Brighton Speed Trials on September 6th, and the Mapledurham trip on Sunday 7th September. The trials start promptly at 9 a.m. and runs through until 6 p.m. The straight line dashes along Madeira Driver run all day with only a thirty minute lunch break. So it is worthwhile arriving early to be ready for the first practice runs with the main event starting at around 11:30 pm. Motor bikes, sports cars, specials, vintage vehicles and much more all take part. It is an action packed day. This year large TV screens placed at strategic points will follow the competitors so the action this time will be able to be followed closely throughout. It should be an exciting occasion.
Parking in Brighton is expensive so if you are coming for the day the use of public transport is a good option and quite possibly more cost effective. Also, if there are any non-motor sport fans in your party then there is plenty to see within easy walking distance of the event. The world famous Lanes are just round the corner with shops, restaurants and cafes aplenty to investigate. I hope to see you there for the welcome return of this brilliant event.

I guess with the arrival of September, we are in autumn and our lovely summer is over unless of course we are lucky enough to enjoy an Indian summer. On reflection, I think we can’t complain about the summer of 2014. I have suffered heat stroke after driving in my Morgan for a prolonged trip in the pitching sun. I much prefer a cold crisp day for open top motoring. Certainly, I can well imagine the benefit of the Aero Coupe with its air-conditioning in places like Florida and Saudi Arabia, for example. Britain’s temperate climate, on the whole, is best for open top sports cars. I hope you had a good summer.
With the autumn comes our plan for a rematch with the Marcos Car Club at our favourite sport of nine pin bowling. We had located a likely spot but on further investigation the pub has since closed. Hence, Tim Marsh is now searching for an alternative venue. Please watch this space. It is always sad to see another pub close, let’s hope we can find an alternative soon. Good luck Tim.
