On April 26th we will make a welcome return to Cliveden near Taplow, with its breath-taking views across the River Thames, its series of beautiful gardens and of course the challenging Cliveden Maze. The house too is well worth a visit rounding off a lovely day out.
Some important news. We have a return 9 pin bowling match with the Marcos club, who are currently holders of the Marcos versus Morgan trophy. On the 16th May, at the Jack of Newbury Pub in Binfield, we will return to the fray to try and win this coveted silverware back. It is a little like the Six Nations championship, we always set out to achieve a grand slam. I hope you can join as for this fun evening.
Thames Valley offered free entry for up to 30 cars and drivers to the ‘Masters Historic’ race meeting on Sunday May 24th. Masters is the leading organiser and promoter of historic motor racing. In May, Masters will run its annual and successful Brands Hatch Masters Festival (May 23/24) where the FIA Masters Historic Formula One and FIA Masters Historic Sports Car Championships will be joined on the Grand Prix circuit by Gentlemen Drivers, Pre-66 Touring Cars as well as invitation grids from the Super Touring, Stirling Moss Trophy and Woodcote Trophy. This offer is for free entry for a car (Morgan) and driver on Sunday May 24th. Passenger tickets will have to be ordered separately from the Brands Hatch website. As I commented last month, I was pleased to announce we have been invited back to RAF Benson on Thursday 23rd July for their family day and air show. As before, the organisers at RAF Benson request that all vehicles are to be on site by 10:30. Flying displays start at 12:00. It's OK to leave any time after about 16:00. Only members who have pre-registered will be allowed entry to this event. Early registration of interest would be most appreciated. Please register with David Cleveland (details below). I would like to thank Dave once again for coordinating this marvellous event.
As an added bonus Mike Aldrich is organising a BBQ for Thursday evening at the Bird In Hand on July 23rd. Therefore, after a day out at RAF Benson, you can join as that evening at the Bird In Hand to round off the day nicely. These events are independent – one can go to both or just one.
