I am pleased to report that we are returning, by popular demand, to the Fawley Hill Museum on Sunday 14th August 2016. Terry Tedman has been able to get us back to the Museum earlier than we had expected. This is a great day out. Last year I had my first ride on a steam driven carrousel. I have always loved the horses. The museum itself is a delight to all rail enthusiasts and of course there are the regular rides on the train around the grounds of the estate with plenty of wildlife to spot. Our very own Tim James is a volunteer at the museum – a wonderful place to work. Last year he was working in the signal box, changing points, etc. Will Tim be on the footplate this year? Well we will have to go along to find out. Tickets are limited and will be allocated on a first come first served basis. Please contact Terry Tedman on Email: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. . Tickets cost £10 per person to help cover the cost of the coal for the locomotive.

Tim Jones’ first Thames Tour on 8th May was a great success and enjoyed by all that took part. They had lovely weather and quite possibly it was warmest day of the year at that point. I will look forward to seeing the photos. Don’t forget Tim’s next tour is on 12th June. I would like to thank Tim for organising this very pleasant outing. We will all look forward to the next one.

MSCC members from all other Centres are invited to join TVC at the following event.

Double Twelve meeting, Brooklands on 18th and 19th June

Graham Larby is also arranging a trip to the Brooklands Double Twelve meeting on Saturday 18th and Sunday 19th June. He attended last year and found it very entertaining, with all of the facilities being open so if you can have a good look around the place.

The Double Twelve meeting, which originates from Brooklands heyday of the 1930s’, is Brooklands’ largest organised events, and as well as static displays it includes the Brooklands Speed Trails which take place on the 800m sprint course on the Mercedes-Benz World circuit, plus various driving tests.

Graham would like to know how many members would be interested in attending and on which days. If we can get four or more TVC Morgan sports cars that can be displayed from 9am until 5pm, Brooklands will provide free tickets for cars and two occupants. There is also the opportunity for members to take part in the Test Hill Challenge and on the Sunday Cavalcade on the circuit at Mercedes-Benz World. To learn more have a look at the Brooklands website http://www.brooklandsmuseum.com/index.php?/double12/ or for this great day out please contact Graham at This email address is being protected from spambots. Also, early this month we have a classic car show at Pangbourne College. We have a good number of Morgan sports cars going along. If you would like details please contact me as soon as you can. It should be an enjoyable day in a beautiful setting. Let’s hope the weather holds.

Thames Valley Centre car badges and pin badges

Please don’t forget, along with a new batch of the Thames Valley Centre Car badge, as depicted in the logo associated with the Centre’s reports in Miscellany, we have also produced a pin badge with the same design. This is the round badge design. The pins come in a choice of colours as well. We are taking orders now, please be quick as we feel these items will be popular, also.

Stop press: our car badges are selling well so please be quick if you would like one. Orders are taken on a first come first served basis, as always. Please contact Mike Aldrich if you would like one. Tel: 01628 676 619. Email: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
