I only wish we could incorporate augmented reality in these Centre notes. Tim Jones’s recent Dealer day trip came across the last Aero 8 to be delivered. It had a light golden coloured body, hood and rear valance and alloy wheels with dark British racing green wings. My colour descriptions may not be perfect, but the car looked stunning in the photograph. I understand the owner already has some substantial offers; after all it represents the end of an era.
Tim’s trip started in wonderful weather commensurate with our fine long summer. I have come across a weather app, known as Weather Spark, which describes the weather over the year for a given location. Looking up Malibu, California, USA, for example, the summers are short, warm, arid, and clear and the winters are long, cool, wet, and partly cloudy. Whereas, for Thames Valley the summers are short, comfortable, and partly cloudy and the winters are long, very cold, windy and mostly cloudy. To give an idea of scale, Moscow in winter is freezing! Let’s hope our summers will get longer, but with more of the comfortable attribute. I continue to look for long summers and short cool winters.
Everyone enjoyed Tim’s tour and I understand the trees at Westonbirt Arboretum were sensational. I would like to thank Tim for organising the trip and all those of you that attended along with all the great support from the dealers that were involved.
At the time of writing, we were busy confirming the Centre’s visit to the Morgan Factory on 7th November at 11 am. Please contact us if you are interested in attending. An outing to the Factory is always a rewarding experience. I always remember the late Chris Rowe’s observation on this subject whenever I think of a visit. I believe Chris would have lived there if he had been given the choice. He was a great guy, I miss him deeply.
This month, we have a trip to The Trenchard Museum and the James McCudden Flight Heritage Centre at RAF Halton near Wendover. It should be a wonderful day out; Chris tells me he has a good number of Morgans going. Thank you very much Chris for organising this trip. The closing registration date for this event, being 27th September, has already unfortunately passed. I hope that you all have a great day out.
In October we also start our regular monthly autumn National Trust visits. This month we will be visiting The Vyne on Sunday 28th October.

We also might see you watching the London to Brighton Veteran Car Run on Sunday 4th November, when we join SexMog at the Jolly Tanner in Staplefield. Park your Morgans around Staplefield village green where the Jolly Tanner and The Victory Inn pubs do a great breakfast. If you plan to watch it there it is best to arrive before 9 am. The quickest and simplest way from Reading is via the M25/M23. You can take your time driving home by returning through the delightful Surrey countryside.
