The ThamesMOG Management Committee is pleased to announce that we will be holding our AGM in person on Thursday May 5th. This will be at our normal first Thursday noggin venue. We look forward to seeing you all in person. Details on the arrangements for the AGM and supporting paperwork will be circulated soon via our Newsletter. It would have been good to have held it on May 4th be with you. But not everyone is into Star Wars like your Centre Secretary.
At the time of writing, it was a lovely sunny day. I felt I could see the light at the end of the tunnel but then appalling things kick off. On behalf of the Centre, I would like to say our thoughts are with the Ukrainian people. I have Ukrainian friends who live here and I know they are terribly worried about their friends and family back home. Let’s hope this madness will end soon.
With changing circumstances, we have started filling our calendar with confirmed events.
The big news in this month is that ThamesMOG have arranged a visit to the Morgan factory on 12th April. The tour lasts for two hours, and will give us the chance to visit the newly opened Morgan Experience Centre and the all-new interactive museum, as well as to see the brand new Morgan Three Wheeler the Speed 3. We have a visit to Wales in September 2022 with Christopher Nickless to look forward for our return visit; we relive the trip he arranged in 2020 as one of ThamesMOG’s 50th anniversary events and bookings are filling up.
Please remember for Drive-it Day on Sunday 24th April, we are joining HopMOG who are attending the British Marques Day event at Brooklands. There will be a host of British built vehicles, from the pre-war Alvis, Norton and Sunbeam right through to the latest Jaguar model, as well as a full-range of MG models. This year there will be a special display featuring Singer road and racing cars, including the three 1934 Singer Ladies Team cars, all of which raced at Brooklands. Also on Drive-it Day, on Sunday 24th April, ThamesMOG has been invites to join with AngleMOG for a visit to Fawley Railway and Museum, near Henley. This is Robert Mc Alpine’s private railway. If you would like to go along with AngleMOG, you can email Colin Miers at
And once again, ThamesMOG member Graham Larby has been offered, on behalf of the club, half-price entry for up to 20 Morgan cars and drivers to the ‘Masters Historic’ race meeting on Sunday 29th May. A festival of racing, an old-school circuit and social fun! It has to be Brands Hatch! This old-school circuit has preserved the nostalgia of historic racing with its original layout from the 1960s and is a definite favourite of drivers and fans alike. The Brands GP circuit is both fast and technically challenging for our drivers, with an exciting combination of skilful, entertaining, wheel-to-wheel racing...the way it used to be in the golden era of motorsport! Also, we have the Pangbourne Classic Car Show on Saturday 4th June. The event started in 2016 and has grown in popularity and now has around 250 vintage, classic and modern classic vehicles displayed each year. ThamesMOG are proud to have attended every year. The lockdown rules are changing continually, and at the time of writing they seem to becoming more restrictive again. The ThamesMOG Management Committee will review our noggins and events day to day.
