At the time of writing, it looks like restrictions will be lifted including the need to self-isolate. This is good news for our noggins and events. I just hope it is not all too premature. Only time will tell.
As reported last month our noggins have continued successfully. Christopher Nickless and his son are still working on their YouTube channel capturing our enjoyable noggins at the Harte and Magpie. Please subscribe to their channel.
With changing circumstances, we hope to start filling our calendar with confirmed events. However, we do have some events firmly in our calendar.
We have a visit to Wales in September 2022 with Christopher Nickless to look forward for our return visit; we relive the trip he arranged in 2020 as one of ThamesMOG’s 50th anniversary events.
For Drive-it day on Sunday 24th April, we are joining HopMOG who are attending the British Marques Day event at Brooklands. There will be a host of British built vehicles, from the pre-war Alvis, Norton and Sunbeam right through to the latest Jaguar model, as well as a full-range of MG models. This year there will be a special display featuring Singer road and racing cars, including the three 1934 Singer Ladies Team cars, all of which raced at Brooklands. Once again, ThamesMOG member Graham Larby has been offered, on behalf of the club, half-price entry for up to 20 Morgan cars and drivers to the ‘Masters Historic’ race meeting on Sunday 29th May. A festival of racing, an old-school circuit and social fun! It has to be Brands Hatch! This old-school circuit has preserved the nostalgia of historic racing with its original layout from the 1960s and is a definite favourite of drivers and fans alike. The Brands GP circuit is both fast and technically challenging for our drivers, with an exciting combination of skilful, entertaining, wheel-to-wheel racing...the way it used to be in the golden era of motorsport! Also, we have the Pangbourne Classic Car Show on Saturday 4th June. The event started in 2016 and has grown in popularity and now has around 250 vintage, classic and modern classic vehicles displayed each year. ThamesMOG are proud to have attended every year. The lockdown rules are changing continually, and at the time of writing they seem to becoming more restrictive again. The ThamesMOG Management Committee will review our noggins and events day to day.
