We have an exciting year coming up with Chris Beck organizing a trip to Kempton Steam Museum during Drive it Day and then to The Battle of Britain Bunker at RAF Uxbridge in May. Robert Thornton is planning a visit to the Aston Martin Heritage Trust near Benson later in the year. There is also the Pangbourne Classic Car show in June. We are also planning National Garden and National Trust visits.

Richard Clayton joined us for his first Committee meeting as our new Regalia Officer. Please contact Richard if you would like to know about our stock of badges. I’m sure Richard to look to produce new items as he gets up and running.

ThamesMOG are planning to visit The Kempton Steam Museum on Sunday 23rd April, Drive it Day. This is a planned steam-up day when they run the world’s largest operational triple expansion steam engine, the LP cylinder is 86” diameter with a 5’-6” stroke! The museum can accommodate up to 20 Morgans on the paved area in front of the museum in addition to their main car park. A guided tour is included with an entrance fee of £10 & £9 for concessions. The Museum is open from 10:30 to 4:00. If you are interested, please use contact details found on https://www.thamesmog.co.uk/events

ThamesMOG will be visiting The Battle of Britain Bunker at RAF Uxbridge. Completed in 1939, the Bunker housed the Operations Room for No.11 Group (Fighter Command) during the Second World War. Located 60 feet underground, the Bunker remained top secret throughout the war and was re-opened alongside an Exhibition Centre in 2018. A guided tour lasting around 1½ hours is included (we are planning this for 2pm) with an entrance fee of £9 or £7 for concessions. The exhibition is very well done and worth some time in addition to the bunker tour. There is a café and ample secure parking on site. ThamesMOG has been invited to exhibit at this year’s Pangbourne Classic Car Show. ThamesMOG have attended this event ever since it started in 2016. The event is completely free. At previous events over 250 amazing vehicles were on display in the glorious Berkshire sunshine, and raised an amazing £4000 for Charity. Pre-booking is essential. If you are interested, please find the booking link at https://www.thamesmog.co.uk/events

We are starting to organise things for our AGM, which we will hold on June 1st at the Bird In Hand. At the recent noggin we have spoken to the staff and they are willing to allow us to use the big area in the rear where we have held meetings before. They are very helpful at the Bird In Hand and I am pleased we have been able to return. Bearing mind, if we ignore our hiatus, we have held our noggins there since November 1970.

Don’t forget our monthly Noggins continue to be held during the winter, and we are pleased to see a lively turn out of members at The Bird in Hand on the first Thursday of every month, and The Harte and Magpies for lunch on the third Sunday of every month.

I hope you will all take care, along with your family and friends, and that you will all stay well.

Best wishes and take care, Roger.
