There is an amazing photograph that seems to show an RAF Chinook about to land on one of our feather flags. Don’t worry this is an optical illusion and a great photo – one for the annual Morgan calendar? We have some exciting air shows coming up, so keep an eye on our website.
As I write this, we are looking forward to a guided tour of the Battle of Britain Bunker at RAF Uxbridge, and a visit to the Brands Hatch Masters Historic Festival, both of which occurred in the last weeks of May.
Please remember we have our AGM this month at the First-Thursday Noggin at the Bird-In-Hand. We shall be reviewing the past year’s events and we shall be considering to the future. I look forward to seeing you at the AGM.
ThamesMOG will exhibit at this year’s Pangbourne Classic Car Show on Saturday 3rd June. ThamesMOG have attended this event ever since it started in 2016. At previous events over 250 amazing vehicles were on display in the glorious Berkshire sunshine, and raised an amazing £4,000 for Charity. Pre-booking has closed for this event, but you can still pop along and join us as a spectator.
The next day, Sunday 4th June, ThamesMOG centre member, and keen motor racing fan, Graham Larby, has reserved 30 places ‘Brands Britain’ at Brands Hatch and it’s completely free for car and driver. On-track, the Great British race-off will feature retro action from the Classic Sports Car Club (CSCC). Race series including the Swinging ‘60s, Future Classics, Modern Classics and Special Saloons and Modsports will compete throughout the day, with grids of classic cars from as far back as the 1950s. The Morgan Challenge will also be making a guest appearance. The meeting includes a round of the Morgan Challenge. Also in June, ThamesMOG have a block booking to the Aston Martin Heritage Centre for the afternoon of Wednesday 21st June when we will have exclusive access to the collection. A collection of fabulous examples of old, new and concept Aston Martin cars. A photogenic setting of historic automotive importance which will delight any motoring enthusiast. Their '100 years of Le Mans' exhibition is for the whole of June so they should have some extra features on display themed around the race. On Sunday 23rd July there is the Chilton Open Air Museum Vehicle Show. Come and admire an amazing collection of classic cars, motorcycles and historic bicycles. You will also be able to see a collection of historic tractors and wagons on their farm, which was once used for filming TV drama Downton Abbey. If you would like to exhibit your Morgan the museum would love to have you there. Admission is free for the driver and one passenger. Standard admission prices apply for any additional passengers. They would like exhibitor’s cars to arrive between 8:30am and 10:00am that is before the public arrive. The show ends at 5:00pm if you wish to leave before 5:00 you can be escorted from the site.
