As this is the December edition of Miscellany, I would like to thank everyone who has organised a ThamesMOG event this year, and everyone who has supported them through their attendance. Being able to meet-up with friends makes these things worthwhile.

ThamesMOG has continued to enjoy a very busy year of events. In November was our annual visit to view the London to Brighton Veteran Car Run at Hyde Park and Staplefield village green. Despite the dull weather is was great to see these cars, all of which are over 120 years old, still strongly making their way to the coast. Also in November, ThamesMOG were invited to attend the 90th Anniversary of Harrow Car Club held at the prestigious and impressive BRDC Club House at Silverstone. Where, following an enjoyable two course lunch plus coffee and words of welcome from the Chairman, we enjoyed a presentation by a guest speaker who told of his acquisition of two MG J2s in parts, one of which he insists he is currently reassembling rather than restoring.
I have always thought of the London to Brighton Veteran Car Run as the end to our Morgan year, but this year we have a December event. Join us on Friday December 7th for the Caterham Car Factory Visit. For over 50 years their factory tours have only been available to a select few, but now it's our turn. Operated from their brand-new factory, doors are officially open to visitors for the first time. Expert tour guides will take us on the build journey that every Seven goes through, right from the bare chassis through to the final fit and finish.
We are holding our Christmas Lunch at the Harte and Magpies on Saturday 14th December. By the time you read this, booking for this festive event will have closed. We all look forward to enjoying ‘turkey with all the trimmings’ in a few weeks’ time. I would like to thank Richard Clayton for arranging it.
Don’t forget there will be no Sunday Lunchtime Noggin on December 15th as it is too close to this year’s Christmas Lunch.
Looking into next year, on New Year’s Day, why not join with other car enthusiasts for an impromptu gathering of cars and car folk at The Phoenix Inn, Hartley Wintney. This is where you are likely to see all types, shapes, colours and condition of cars. Vintage, Veteran, Classic, Hot-Rod they will all be there at some time. The pub usually has burgers, hot dogs, teas and coffee for sale outside, as well as a busy bar inside. Keep an eye open for any fellow ThamesMOGers who might be there.
Alternatively, on New Year’s Day, why not pop along to Stoney Stratford from 9:30. Expect to ‘see’ a great deal of Vintage cars and bikes and even a few commercials, expect to ‘hear’ a cacophony of engines as they celebrate the New Year with ‘one minutes noise’ at midday, followed at 12.30, by an unmissable awards presentation, expect to ‘eat and drink’ at one of the many pubs and restaurants and stalls that open up especially to welcome you.
