It is with great sadness that we report the passing of ThamesMOG member, Colin Wright. Colin, a ‘larger than life’ character, had owned his Morgan for less than a year, and in that time had become a regular attender at many of ThamesMOG’s events. His first event was Yattendon Classic Car Show, just after he had taken delivery of his Mog (he wasn’t sure that he would have it in time!) and we then saw him again at Silverstone for the Bentley Driver Club meeting, our visit to the Shuttleworth collection, and at the West Tisted fly-in. Colin had one of the most distinctive 4/4s in the club. He went to great lengths to inject his character and his family connections to the RAF into it, hence the registration, the roundel and the various badges and insignia. I know that he had been looking forward to Morgan ownership for a long time and it is very sad that his 4/4 driving experience was so short.
Now is the time to think of getting your Morgan out of the garage and into the fresh air. Polish the bodywork, clean the wire wheels with those special brushes, and check the tyre pressures, oil and water, in readiness for our various events
Eight ThamesMOG members have registered to join with our friends at OxMOG and SwanMOG to see the magnificent annual bluebell display at National Trust Grey's Court, on Wednesday 22rd April. Why not join us?
We already have ten Morgans registered for our Scenic Drive-It Day Run on Sunday 26th April. This year, our Run is in aid of the NPSCC’s Child-line Service. The run is through the most picturesque of the Chiltern Valleys, ending up at the Harte and Magpies for Sunday lunch. There will be a limit on the number of entries, so if you are interested, check our website for details.
