What a hardy lot Morgan owners are. Despite the forecast for rain and wind, 19 ThamesMOG members attended January's Sunday-Lunchtime Noggin at the Harte and Magpies. There were even four members who don't mind getting their pride and joys wet and dirty. Top marks. I heard that a fun time was had by all. Conversation ranged from, what did you do for Christmas to what is ThamesMOG going to arrange for 2026?
Well, the rain continued into February, but this did not put off a jolly crowd meeting up the Bird-in-Hand for our First-Thursday Noggin meeting. By then, conversations had moved on to: becoming grandparents; problems with removing Morgan dashboards; having Triumph motorcycles dismantled in the garage for years; and future holidays to Norway and China. I expect this is similar to the conversations at your own Noggins.
The ThamesMOG Committee have been busy planning events for 2026.
• On Wednesday 22nd April we join with our friends at OxMOG and SwanMOG to see the magnificent annual bluebell display at National Trust Grey's Court.
• Sunday 26th April is our Scenic Drive-It Day Run in aid of the NPSCC’s Child-line Service.
• Our April Sunday Lunchtime Noggin is moving back by a week to 26th April as part of our Drive-It Day event.
• Thursday 7th May is the date for our AGM, where we will have an interesting talk from a Morgan race winner.
• On Wednesday 13th May, ThamesMOG are visiting the RAF Hendon museum, where we are arranging a guided tour of one of their hangers, plus time to visit the many other exhibits.
• Also in May, we have once again been invited to the Pangbourne Classic Car Show on Saturday 30th
• Another date for your diary is Saturday 15th August for the Bentley Drivers Club Race Meeting at Silverstone, where we hope to be cheering on ThamesMOG member Howard Clarke.
A full list of our events, with all the details, can be found on our events page.
This year, the ThamesMOG AGM will be held on Thursday 7th May. As has been our custom, this meeting will be a joint Noggin and AGM event. It is customary at our AGM to award trophies for actions in the previous year. Have a think. Who do you suggest should be awarded these three trophies for the past year 2025?
• Frank Lomax Charity Trophy: for a member’s contribution to raising money for charity associated with the use of their Morgan.
• SGT Trophy: awarded to the member who has most exhibited the best traditions of Morgan ownership and its furtherance in true club spirit.
• Silver Salver Trophy: awarded to the Centre member who has been most inspirational in the spirit of competition during the year.
Please send nominations for these three trophies to
