This month we have a welcome return to Fawley Railway Museum. I am not sure if the future of this facility is in doubt or not, however, if it is this may be our last chance to attend, since the sad passing of Lord McAlpine. Please contact Terry Tedman as soon as you can if you would like to go. We may be able to collect tickets from Terry on the first Thursday noggin in August. I hope you can join us.
Later on this month, we are visiting Gilbert White and the Oates collection. This will be a very interesting outing with an exhibition on Gilbert White’s life, as well as an exhibition on the lives and adventures of two members of the Oates Family, both pioneers and explorers of the natural world.
Looking forward to September, we have the return of our popular Dealers days, this time with the added attraction of a visit to Westonbirt Aboretum.
I see visits back to the Morgan Factory are available again. My understanding we could visit as a group this autumn for half the price that has been charged this summer. Please make contact with me if you would be interested in a factory visit. I hear changes are afoot at the factory so this may be an opportunity find out a few pointers. As always, a visit to the factory is always a rewarding experience.

As I highlighted, back by popular demand, we visit the Fawley Hill railway museum which is just outside Henley on Thames, where our Morgan Sports Cars will be displayed amongst the exhibits.

Visit to Gilbert White and the Oates collection – Sunday 19th August.
Something for all the family. Join us for a visit to the Gilbert White and the Oates collection.
Over 250 years ago Selborne and its surrounding landscape inspired Gilbert White’s life-long investigation of the natural world, culminating in his world-famous book The Natural History and Antiquities of Selborne. The exhibition tells Gilbert White’s story within the walls of his family home and his unique 18th century garden.
The Oates Collection exhibits focus on the lives and adventures of two members of the Oates Family, both pioneers and explorers of the natural world.
Frank Oates, uncle of Captain Lawrence Oates, is the third of the explorers of the natural world commemorated at Selborne. Like other members of the Oates family, Frank liked a challenge. “I like anything,” he once said, “that seems difficult of attainment”. He was the classic Victorian gentleman amateur who managed to make a real contribution to science.
Captain Lawrence Oates is best remembered as the brave Antarctic hero who was chosen to be part of Captain Robert Scott’s team to undertake the epic journey of discovery to the South Pole 1911-12
Admission: Adults £9.50, Conces £8.50. Tickets last for 12 months.
Meet at 11:00, there is plenty of parking, and a brand new cafe in the new Stable Yard.
