It was with great sadness that I learnt of the passing of Quentin English. He was a good friend of the Centre and he had many friends in the Club. We have many fond memories.
We were very much involved with Quentin and HopMOG in MOG 2000. I was working with Quentin in organising the race meeting and sprint at the MOG. I distinctly remember bringing to Quentin’s attention the option of having a live assessment as a club of the race event by the MSA. He, of course, said, ‘Yeah, let’s go for it.’ It was a highly successful MOG with a great race and sprint meeting. Afterwards, we waited in apprehension the result of our assessment. When I got the letter detailing we had passed the assessment we were over the moon, as you can imagine. It was a proud moment for us when a copy of the letter was shown to the late Peter Morgan who was then running the Morgan Motor Company.
It was Quentin’s leadership and enthusiasm that led to the great success of MOG 2000 and many other highly complex Club events. At this time Quentin was writing examinations for his Travel Agency Students. To my amusement, one of his questions asked about Roger Bluff’s travel plans and the appropriate processes involved, etc. I only hope the question wasn’t too difficult.
On behalf of the Centre I would like to send our sincere condolences to Ann, Brian and family at this sad time. It was an honour to have worked with Quentin and a pleasure to know him. He will be gravely missed. To live in the hearts of those we love is never to die.

I was very pleased Christopher Nickless’ trip to Wales now beckons, and that the Harte and Magpie noggin was able to go ahead in July. All this makes us feel we are gradually getting back to normal.
Don’t forget, our fiftieth anniversary badge is selling well. David Mansfield is taking orders, worldwide, on a strictly first come first served basis. One numbered badge has been made for each year of us being a Centre. I recommend being quick with your order. When they are gone they are gone. I’m pleased I got mine.
