Rushing to a newsagent once again I was told, ‘Sorry sir we have run out.’ And of course now, at the time of writing, I have no petrol to get there to try again. I am of course referring to buying the latest edition of Classic Car magazine. Those of you lucky enough to have a copy will see on the front cover ThamesMOG member Steve Bridge and his Morgan, and read within an article that features hand-built British cars. It looked like quite a photoshoot, with the photographer hanging out the back of a moving vehicle to photo Steve in-action, so to speak; it looked like something out of a James Bond film. Congratulations and well done Steve B. I understand Steve will be autographing copies at future noggins. I will now have another go at buying a copy while walking my dog Susie.
Another photoshoot, another ThamesMOG member, another Steve. This time Steve Loudoun and his Morgan attended Dunsfold Aerodrome, along with a couple of other Morgan owners, for the filming of the Christmas edition of Top Gear TV programme. Steve said it involved a lot of standing around, but to quote him “So was it worth it? Well, I saw some amazing cars, and met some lovely people. Thankfully, I did not get too wet, but there were a few poor souls in open topped cars, but come the end of the day everyone still seemed to be hanging on in there.” Well done Steve!"
Do you fancy watching the London to Brighton Veteran Car Run on Sunday 7th November? ThamesMOG will be joining SexMog at the Jolly Tanner in Staplefield. Park your Morgans around Staplefield village green where the Jolly Tanner and The Victory Inn pubs do a great breakfast. If you plan to watch it there it is best to arrive before 9 am. The quickest and simplest way from Reading is via the M25/M23. You can take your time driving home by returning through the delightful Surrey countryside.
Chris Nickless’ continues to have great support at the Harte and Magpie noggin on the Third Sunday lunchtime. Many of our new members come from around this area and they are most welcome to join this enjoyable meet.
As another reminder, don’t forget, on September 12th next year – yes 2022 - Chris will be taking us back to mid-Wales for a repeat of the fantastic trip we had last year. As before, if you would like to go, I would recommend you contact Chris as soon as possible. He has booked the accommodation there and it would be nice to fill it with Morgan sports cars. Due to Covid restrictions, we have had to postpone a number of events this year with the hope of running them in 2022. With this in mind we shall be publishing a calendar soon to relaunch these events – please watch this space.
