We have some exciting news for our annual attendance at West Green House Classic Car Show on Sunday 18th September. This year ThamesMOG member Paul Briderick will be showing his Merlin/Meteor engine. When he powers this engine up at home, he has to warn all his neighbours. Certainly beats the barking of a dog in the back garden. We look forward to seeing Paul there. ThamesMOG have applied for club entry to this event, this will provide free entry for your Morgan, driver and one passenger. To gain free entry, please ensure that you arrive at West Green House between 8:30 and 9:30, where a member of ThamesMOG will issue you with your tickets. It’s a relaxing day to view the cars, indulge in an all-day breakfast or sit back and listen to our lunchtime concert on the hay bales with West Green favourites The Roxy Dots. Stroll to the gardens and lunch in the Tea Room or linger by the display of high-performance luxury Super Cars, the low-slung custom-built McLaren, Ferrari, Lamborghini Porsche, plus exotic mix of Classic cars that always thrill and entice.
We had another great noggin for our welcome return to the Bird In Hand, last month, where we met new members and the return of some friends. From now on, the First-Thursday-Noggin will be held at the Bird In Hand from 7 pm. For those of you that don’t know it, coming from the Reading direction on the A4, it is a left turn just before a garage in Knowl Hill. It has a large car park – plenty of room for us. When you enter the Bird In Hand, go straight to the bar and we will be in a small area to your right. This is the fourteenth century part of the old coaching inn. It is said to be haunted. I look forward to seeing you there from 7pm onwards. The manager of the Bird-In-Hand is very approachable. We believe we will be able to hold AGMs, Committee Meetings and annual dinners there, once again. We will look forward to it.
In August we had a busy time with the RAF Benson Family Day, visit to Pitstone Museum and the Bentley Drivers meeting at Silverstone. I would like to thank Dave Cleveland and David Vodden for administrating our entry into RAF Benson. All these events were most enjoyable.
Don’t forget our Sunday Lunchtime Noggin on September 18th. These Noggins have proved very popular during the summer with our members in the northern part of our region. Make sure you pre-book your table by contacting by contacting Chris Nickless by email (please see details below).

The COVID-19 is still with us, as I discovered before our First Thursday Noggin last month, so the ThamesMOG Management Committee are regularly reviewing our noggins and events. Our number fifty badge of the ThamesMOG fiftieth anniversary car badges has been sold via auction to a Centre member. Please remember we still have a few badges left to sell. While on this subject, David Mansfield has retired as our Regalia Officer. If you would be interested in taking on this role, please get in touch with me.
We also have a vacancy for a membership secretary. Dave Cleveland will be stepping down soon. Dave says it is not a too onerous a role. We have some 120 members, those that are members of the MSCC and receive the ThamesMOG Centre newsletters on a regular basis. Please get in touch if you are interested in this role.
I would like to thank you both for your hard work over the years for the Centre, your legacies are very important to us. Dave’s contribution to the administration and processes of the Centre has been very important, while David’s landmark regalia will always be with us.
