The first Thursday noggin at the Bird In Hand, is continuing to shape nicely. The pub specialises in beer from Butcombe Brewery. Having had a half a pint or two, I can confirm it isn’t bad – drinkable I think is the technical term. With a beer garden and seating outside it is just like old times. We can look out for passing Moggies as has been done at our sister noggin at the Harte and Magpie. The Bird In Hand is billed as a traditional pub restaurant – just what we need. It is also a dog friendly establishment. I hope my dog Susie and I will see a lot of the place in 2023.
I was pleased to hear our Christmas Lunch at the Harte and Magpie on 10th December was thoroughly enjoyed by all that were there. A splendid 3 course meal was enjoyed by 36 ThamesMOGgers, many festive Christmas jumpers were worn, and Christmas Crackers pulled, and quiz questions answered. It was great to see such a strong turnout, with many Morganeers seeing each other for the first time since the ThamesMOG Welsh Trip in September. The air temperature might have been +2 degrees centigrade, but the prospect of driving their Morgans under clear blue skies was too much of a temptation for five ThamesMOG members. I heard that the new Morgans have a very effective heater when you have the hood up. I trust this event set everyone up for the festive season. Thanks to Chris Nickless for organising this.
On Sunday 1st January, why not join with other car enthusiasts for an impromptu gathering of cars and car folk at The Phoenix Inn, Hartley Wintney, from about 8am to 2pm. This is where you are likely to see all types, shapes, colours and condition of cars. Vintage, Veteran, Classic, Hot-Rod they will all be there at some time. Have no fear about parking. Although there is little room in the pub car park, just do as everyone does, and park on the road leading up the pub. You can't miss where it is from the array of cars parked along the road. The pub usually has burgers, hot dogs, teas and coffee for sale outside, as well as a busy bar inside. Keep an eye open for any fellow ThamesMOGgers who might well be there.
