This month's Centre report will only contain good news so please read on. Of course this will mean no mention of Terry Tedman's transport problems and other such matters. The first item of good news is that by the time you read this our good friends of the Centre Anne Northfield and Don Fox will have tied the knot. I was very fortunate to be at their wedding in Plymouth over the Easter period. I first met Don when he saved me from being crushed by the oar of a Viking longboat during a race; we have been good friends
The first Thursday noggin saw the Centre jump to the services of a landrover owner in difficulties. Thankfully we had enough manpower and expertise to get Terry Tedman back on the road after a struggle. Terry's vehicle was equipped with some surprising Aero 8-type technology. David Smith and Sandra are organising a Gymkhana on July 14th at the National Society for Epilepsy. Please support this event as either as a helper or an entrant. Please contact David and Sandra for further details on 01494 815975. Robin Milner on 01932 353675 has invited us to join him at a Classic Car
We hope to hold our normal Summer Centre dinner at the Riveria Hotel in Maidenhead. Please contact Mike Aldrich if you are interested. We will be agreeing a date soon to make sure we don't clash with Le Man since a number of Centre members are thinking of making the trip there this year. Terry Tedman has been in touch and has informed me that next summer (looking a head a little) we will be able to visit the McAlpine Steam collection once again. This is a rare opportunity please contact Terry if you are interested so that we can
We had a good turn out at our Christmas dinner at the Phoenix. I would like to thank everyone that supported the event. I hope to make a date for the same time, same venue next year. Back in November we held a very successful land rover night. In the interest of fairness I have decided to call a Jeep evening in the near future at the Bird In Hand. After all not everyone owns a Land Rover. We should have a good turn out since there is a Jeep garage right next door. for details. I hope to see
I hope everyone had a very happy Christmas and that 2002 will be a peaceful and prosperous New Year for us all. To start the year off quietly we have a Centre lunchtime visit on New Year's day to the Phoenix Inn near Hartley Wintney on the A30. The car park and adjacent road fills up with Classic cars of all descriptions. If you feel awake enough it is well worth a visit; hopefully I will see you there.
Now that December is with us I would like to wish everyone a very happy Christmas and I hope that you all have a happy New Year. To celebrate we are holding a Centre Christmas Dinner on the 20th December at the Phoenix Inn near Hartley Wintney on the A30. We plan to meet for drinks at 19:30 with the meal starting at 20:00. I am taking deposits of £8.95 per head, please send a cheque to me if you would like to come. The total cost is £18.95 per head. We hope to fill the pub so please come
