I was very sad to learn of the tragic loss of Chris Rowe to the Morgan World. This year Chris celebrated the fact that he had owned a Morgan for twenty-five years and that he had been a member of the Thames Valley Centre(Reading, Grogmog) for the same length of time. All his friends in the Centre will sadly miss him. It was Chris that gave me a lift to the factory to collect my new Morgan all those years ago. At the time Chris asked if Peter Morgan would be willing to hand over the car keys for me.

Our first Thursday noggin of the New Year was a sad evening as it was the day before Arthur Neal's funeral. In some ways though it helped as Mike Dulieu made us smile with his fond memories of Arthur. Several Centre members attended Arthur Neal's funeral to pay their last respects. Arthur's friends from across the Morgan world attended including Dixon Smith representing the Factory. Barry Sumner gave a fitting tribute and on Arthur's behalf wished everybody that was entering the Exeter trial that evening nothing but clear runs. Over the Christmas period I learnt with great shock and sadness of the premature death of a great friend of the Morgan Marque and of the Morgan Sports Car Club, as well as a personal friend of Thames Valley Centre, Arthur Neal. I hope everyone in ThamesMogLand and beyond had a very happy Christmas. The year 2000 is shaping up to be a very busy one for Thames Valley Centre. Our Centre was originally formed at the Bird In Hand back in 1970, when we still had pounds, shillings and pence and no one had even heard of the Euro! Hence 2000 is our thirtieth anniversary year and we hope to celebrate this fact big time - watch this space! The first Thursday noggin in November saw a reasonable turn out considering the imminent threat of rain and the cold! Our new line in Christmas cards sold well with the millennium just round the corner. I visited the SexMog Sunday noggin in October and successfully recruited Dennis Pike from Burgress Hill to the Centre. Welcome Dennis and I hope you can make it to one of our noggins soon. At the Bird in Hand in September we spent most of the evening planning our then eminent trip to the Brighton Speed Trials. Crispin Elt was glad to be there since he had managed to escape the decorating. The Uncle Tom's Cabin was reasonably well attended. At this noggin we launched two new regalia items. Geoff Giles had with him the first batch of Thames Valley baseball caps. They have the Thames Valley logo and can be bought in several styles. The caps are available in different colours.
