I hope everyone had a good Christmas and New Year holiday. I was down in Brighton for the festive season and had an enjoyable relaxing time - resting up for next year's competition season. My dogs like it down there; they have a run on the downs in the mornings and then they have a romp on the beach in the afternoons. An early cold winters morning at the top of Devil’s Dyke can be quite spectacular. In one position you can stand looking towards the Sun rising over Brighton with the Downs to the left still covered in darkness.

A half a dozen of us met Andrew at Newlands Corner for our trip to the London to Brighton veteran car run. From the perspective of a local from the Brighton area, I consider this event to be one of the highlights of the year. Ten Morgans made it to the 1st Thursday noggin. I’ve decided to start collecting statistics at our meetings for the mathematicians amongst us. It will be interesting to see how far Morgans will be willing to travel to be at one of our noggins. Due to Roger’s natural modesty(see later) your emergency holographic scribe is reporting this month. At the Bird in hand a list of potential ideas for things to do for the next year was complied. These ranged from a ride on a steam train, a weekend away in the Cotswolds, to a game of Aunt Sally. Hopefully we will have an exciting year ahead of us. The first Thursday saw the return of some old friends. It was good to see Mike Coram, Tony Hempel, Brian Dash and not forgetting Julie Babes at the Bird in Hand again. Please don’t leave it so long for the next visit. There were fifteen cars present with only two non-morgans. The first Thursday turned out to be a momentous evening. After eight years of service to the centre Richard announced that he felt he no longer had the time available to continue as Centre Secretary. So after some discussions I said I would be very honoured to take on the job. On behalf of the centre I would like to thank Richard for all his efforts over the years.
