June was another busy month for ThamesMOG. On Sunday, 1st June, we joined with HopMOG at the Brands Hatch Masters Historic Festival. Then on Sunday 8th June, we were at ‘Classics on the Crick’, an event held on the village playing fields in the middle of Naphill village. There was fantastic live music throughout the day, and great food stands. On Sunday, 29th June, we had two events. I was deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Christopher Nickless. He was a good friend to our Centre, contributing significantly to our activities and ensuring we stayed engaged with our Morgan sports cars. He played a vital role in our Centre Committee and at our Annual General Meetings. Christopher was always helpful to members and had a wealth of creative ideas for events and future activities. Friendly and approachable, Christopher was an exceptional organiser. Over the years, he used these qualities to transform the Harte and Magpie Sunday Noggin into a well-attended monthly event. By the time you read this, ThamesMOG will have kicked off its spring events with a Drive It Day trip to Crofton Beam Engines in Wiltshire. The boilers will have been fired up, and the engines in motion, just as they would have been over two centuries ago. Some of their volunteers will have displayed their classic cars alongside our Morgans. We are saddened to announce the death of ThamesMOG member Terry Tedman, on 13th February. If we look back over the decades at the history and evolution of Thames Valley Centre we would see what a very significant contribution Terry made. He was famous for owning the Duchess - a 4/4 DHC in French Racing Blue with a reg GWR which was very appropriate as Terry was a train driver. He was very proud of the Duchess and its friendship with the Duke, a similar vehicle belonging to Geoff Giles. These Morgans would often park up together at National Morgan

Our year of events got off to a flying start in February with a visit to the splendid Prodrive factory in Banbury. Some of you will recall the Prodrive name from their rally days with World Rally Champions Colin McRae and Richard Burns driving the Prodrive Subarus. Today Prodrive is a multimillion pound engineering company covering everything from race prepping Aston Martins and Land Rovers, to prototyping Last Mile electric delivery vehicles, and developing innovative engineering solutions for businesses in the automotive, aerospace, marine and other industry sectors. I would like to start this month’s report by wishing you all a very Happy and Healthy 2025. At this time of year, it is customary to reflect on the year that has just past. We certainly have had a busy time with the many ThamesMOG activities.
